Howarth Tenoroon

The Howarth Tenoroon is the perfect instrument to get children started on their journey with the bassoon.

Main product description

The Tenoroon is a smaller version of the standard bassoon, with almost identical key work. This allows children to get started on an instrument normally first played by older children and prevents them from being less musically developed than their musician peers.

Howarth’s children’s bassoons are manufactured in Germany from mountain maple that has been matured over many years, finished with a durable matt-finish synthetic lacquer. All the finger holes have ebonite liners that extend into the bore. The body is fabricated using CNC equipment, designed for maximum precision and consistency in the production process.

The Tenoroon is an instrument in F, which means that it sounds a fourth higher than a full-size bassoon. It is sometimes referred to as a Quartfagott. It features ebonite-lined bores and finger holes, a roller from F to Ab for the right-hand little finger and a whisper key. The instrument weighs just over a third of a full-size Howarth bassoon. The flat springs, axles and pointed screws are all made of stainless steel for maximum longevity and value. All the key work is silver-plated.

Howarth supplies all of its children’s bassoons with a mini case, hand rest, sling, silk cleaning mops, cork grease and crook.
