Richard Lines-Davies is a professional freelance oboist from Surrey, England. He graduated from the Royal College of Music with a First Class Honours degree in 2018 and continued his studies at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, studying for an Orchestral Artistry Masters degree and receiving a Distinction. He stayed for an extra year at the Guildhall as a Junior Fellow.

Richard has had a successful beginning to his freelancing career, performing as principal with the St Martin in the Fields Orchestra, Barbican Sinfonia, Thames Sinfonia, the Easter and Summer Endellion Festival Orchestras, and playing in the section of the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, BBC Symphony Orchestra, National Symphony Orchestra in Dublin, London Symphony Orchestra and Philharmonia Orchestra. Most recently, he was second oboe and cover conductor for the UK Tour of Batman (1989) In Concert.

As well as performing orchestrally, he regularly performs in musical theatre productions across London on oboe, saxophone, clarinet, and flute. Most recent shows include depping on Kimberly Akimbo, Jane Eyre, The Great Gatsby and Sondheim: Old Friends. He also toured China in February 2025 for a musical theatre review show.

Outside of performing, Richard is a dedicated teacher, and alongside his educational work, he is also passionate about the outreach work he does, specifically with the Brixton Chamber Orchestra, bringing classical music to different communities who may never have experienced live music before, with an aim to inspire the next generation of young musicians.”
