On the other side of the world, in Hong Kong, Alice is an enthusiastic promoter of Howarth instruments both for the starting player and the seasoned professional.

Where are you based?
I am based both in Hong Kong and the United Kingdom.
Tell us about you music education and career!
I graduated from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts and Univeristy of Minnesota. I have been a freelance oboist with Hong Kong Sinfonietta, City Chamber Orchestra as well as Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra and currently on the faculty of Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts junior department. I am an active oboe teacher with six days of teaching in a week.
Why did you decide to open the shop?
My business got started in around 2008 and at first I only ordered Howarth oboes for my students. Later on my colleagues also asked me to order instruments for them, then I established my own company.
How long have you been stocking Howarth oboes?
I have been stocking Howarth instruments for 13 years.
What is your favourite Howarth oboe and why?
My favourite models are the XL and S40C. The XL goes well with American style reeds with its great stability and durable keywork. Parents like the S40C oboes very much as the price is affordable and the quality is good.
Anything to add?
My company is relatively small here but I have invited many famous oboists to teach oboe master classes like Michael Wilson, Jerome Guichard, Kwak Yeon Hee and Ingo Goritzki. I regularly hold oboe exhibitions and enjoy helping parents and less experienced oboists to find suitable instruments.
