5 Minutes with… Howarth Dealers | Oboissimo

We would like to introduce you to Oboissimo for another instalment of ‘5 minutes with… Howarth Dealers’.

Run by active oboists Jan Hoďánek and Dominik Bunc, Oboissimo provides top quality products and knowledge. Always welcomed with a smile, we enjoy visiting them in the beautiful city of Prague.

What is the name of your shop/business?

The name of the shop is Oboissimo.

Where are you based?

We are based in Prague near the centrum.

Tell us about your music education and/or career!

We are a staff of ten, six sales staff all trained and educated in our respective instruments and Jan graduated from the Academy of Music in Prague and Dominik is still studying oboe at the University of Ostrava. We are both professional oboists. That fact motivates us to offer our customers the best. Jan plays solo English horn and oboe in Prague symphony orchestra and also teach at Prague conservatory. Dominik plays first oboe in Janacek Philharmonic Orchestra.

How did the business get started and/or why did you decide to open the shop?

It started 20 years ago. We wanted to build a friendly environment for all wind instrument players, especially double-reed instruments. Also we like to discuss double-reeds stuff with good coffee that we have in our shop 🙂

How long have you been stocking Howarth oboes?

We have been cooperating with Howarth since our foundation.

What is your favourite Howarth oboe and why?

Our most favourite oboe is Howarth XL. It has really stable tuning and warm round sound.

Anything to add?

We’ve had an amazing working relationship with Howarth throughout the years and we’re thrilled to continue the partnership for years to come. The staff are wonderful to work with and the instruments are truly superb. We’re always thrilled to find new homes for every new Howarth oboe that comes through our shop.
