Description

Launched in 2021, the BC XXI was introduced as Buffet’s new revolution. Its lower joint has been extended by several centimetres to enhance the clarinet’s resonance and projection.

The BC XXI Bb Clarinet was created by the combined talents of Eric Baret and well-known artists including Michel Arrignon, Nicolas Baldeyrou, Martin Fröst, and Paul Meyer. It is made of grenadilla wood and has a cylindrical bore which creates a darker and concentrated sound.

The lengthening of the bottom joint has made the high register more stable, and produces a full and resonant sound in the chalumeau register. The addition of the low Eb/Bb key encourages the musician to explore old clarinet repertoire and new compositions.

Like the Legende and the Divine models, the BC XXI’s tone holes are made from Greenline material, an addition which strengthens the wooden body. A raised tone hole on the D has been added to allow a more ergonomic positioning of the left-hand fingers. The BC XXI has been beautifully designed, featuring silver plated keywork with rose gold-plated fixings. Thanks to Buffet’s latest ergonomic developments, the keywork feels comfortable and falls naturally under the fingers.

The BC XXI also features carbon fibre banding and tenons with metal caps, this helps stabilise the wood and avoid splits. The carbon fibre wire also reduces the weight of the clarinet.

Buffet has been producing clarinets since 1825 and are well respected within the industry. Buffet clarinets are commonplace in orchestras and ensembles across the world.

The Buffet BC XXI Bb clarinet is supplied with a compact black case exclusive to this model. It includes two barrels, a pull through, cork grease, a sample reed, pencil and rose gold ligature with silver-plated screws and cap.

Warranty

This instrument is covered by a two-year guarantee with Buffet Crampon against all manufacturing or material defects. This guarantee extends to cracks and tenons.

This instrument comes with a 1 Year Warranty from Howarth of London and includes a free ‘Guarantee Checkover’ from our Repair Workshop before the warranty expires.
